The number of cases of sexual violence against children in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has shot up dramatically since the latest escalation of violence. Hundreds of children have been raped in recent weeks, according to UNICEF. The M23 rebel alliance's capture of parts of the east is the most serious escalation in more than a decade of the long-running conflict.
