Microsoft Notepad has received a big new update in Windows 11 that makes it more well-suited for users to edit a document. Here are all the details.

The update, currently rolling out to developer builds, enhances the simplicity of Notepad, but it still lacks several key features needed to rival Microsoft Word or Google Docs for serious writing.

Microsoft released the update to computer manufacturers in December and is expected to include it in shrink-wrapped versions of Word from 11 January.

Microsoft will soon be rolling out an update to Word that enables users to pre-load the application right after the system is booted.
